Discography

In 2005, a 'double A-sided' single Christmas Day b/w Something Has To Fall (produced by Ian Catt) was released on Hit45 Records (HIT 45001) as a vinyl effect CD 'Song-in-a-Card', which was sold through Oxfam. 2500 copies were pressed and both sides were given airplay on BBC Berkshire.

Lyrics are catalogued below - songs are in alphabetical order.

All Those Years Ago

Another Mile

I remember endless summer making good love, we were so young. Talked for hours by the river, sweet the water; live forever. All those years ago, all those years ago... no-one really knows how, oh, the years'll go now.

Took our old car, packed a guitar; busked a love-song under the stars. Sat beside a glowing fire smoking reefer and getting higher. All those years ago, all those years ago... no-one really knows how, oh, the years'll go now.

Though photographs'll fade, there's something you can't 'take' imprinted in our brains, we remember, remember?

Nights are longer, days are colder - can you feel the winter on our shoulder? All those years ago, all those years ago... no-one really knows how, oh, the years'll go now.

Whistle...

Beautiful Place

Without the pace I thought was mine I feel displaced - I'm out of time with just another mile to travel. Compromise should see us through, or die like flies that stick to glue - and end up with a pile to shovel with just another mile to travel.

All you really care for is yourself. Do you think it's fair to somebody else to dream up thoughtless plans without regret? And put a spineless book back on the shelf.

The human race has run so far but can you tell me where we are? With just another mile to travel. For it's much worse than we believed - we die of thirst because of pointless greed. Apathy in times of trouble, with just another mile to travel.

Who in hell d'you figure you are with all your fellow superstars? Can you tell what you have torn apart - to leave the world with such a broken heart?

Between Years

I was trying to turn the key and discover the other me. It's a beautiful place to see - no inhibitions, so free. I've been hoping to take more time to be finding the words that rhyme. I've been heading to cross the line, and I've been willing the sun to shine. It's a beautiful place... such a beautiful place.

I've been running the long way 'round instead of taking the short-cut down. I've been searching for solid ground and I want you to sing it loud:  it's a beautiful place... such a beautiful place.

I've been having to stay awake and I'm beginning to bend and break. Been looking the other way - and I've been living a world away.

Gonna walk through open doors, I'll be playing with open chords - it's like a target to get towards, and I can tell that there's so much more... it's a beautiful place (it's a beautiful place to be) such a beautiful place (it's a beautiful place to be).
I thought of you only yesterday, drowning your sorrows in junk-food - or playing guitar in an endless refrain of, 'what am I going to do?' It's five O'clock on another working day - it's passing you by like you're dumb-struck. Making your way through the bars of the rain to the relative comfort of the bus-stop.

Like the trees lose leave that turn into gold, you're between years and the season's taken its toll.

Sitting alone under the velvet Milky Way, you think you could reach all the stars up there. But what you want just seems so far away - think yourself lucky to have what you got.

Winter is frost in the night, the colours fade into grey. Then spring showers arrive - and summer is finer than rain.

Like the trees lose leave that turn into gold, you're between years and the season's taken its toll.

Black Box

Can't Carry On

Everything I've seen, everywhere I've been - tied up with some tape in a box on a plane. Everywhere I go, everyone I know - pack it all away in a box 'till the day when I crash and burn. Oh, you'll never learn what it means 'cause the record's turned and it can't be heard anymore.

Reeling in the black, never coming back - so the memory fades to be lost, be erased. Head without a sound, broken on the ground; couldn't find a way for the box to be saved. When I crash and burn, oh, you'll never learn what it means 'cause the record's turned and it can't be heard anymore.
I was feeling kind of restless underneath that burning sun. Thought my situation hopeless though my life had just begun. My soul's been feeling empty; my heart's been so cold. Ever since the day she left me I've been feeling tired and old. Well, I don't know where I'm going - only God knows where I've been. And there's no way of her knowing that I can't carry on.

She was standing in the doorway with a suitcase in her hand. Then she hit me with the cliché, 'I've left you for another man.' Saw her standing on the corner - had to turn the other way. Didn't know how to approach her - couldn't think of what to say. Now I sit at home and wonder just what the hell went wrong. Can't you see I'm going under? I can't carry on... I can't carry on... I can't carry on... oh, no, I can't carry on.

Chalk And Cheese

Christmas Day

You get high; I'll stay home. You say, 'why?', but I don't know. You say, 'start - it's time to go'. I'll drive fast and you go-slow.

You're so sad; I'm too tough - we're both as bad, and that's enough. It's out of reach, out of touch, out of breath and out of luck. I love you, you love me - are we the same, or chalk and cheese?

Say you will shoot to kill for me. Take advice: just think twice to see: I love you, you love me - are we the same, or chalk and cheese?
It's late December, season's end, for Jesus Christ and Bethlehem and fairy-lights upon the tree just twinkle 'till it's New Year's Eve. The carols in the market square ring through the crisp, cold evening air; church bells'll chime for all to hear, this sentimental time of year.

Chestnuts and wine - winter is here again; shine like a star to people near and far. Presents they'll bring, songs we will sings and true memories we'll make on Christmas Day... with you.

Through frosted panes that candles glow - logs on the fire to melt the snow. Hung by the chimney-place you'll see two stockings left for you and me.

Spare a thought for those who'll go without a thing today: for them, we pray...

Close But No Cigar

Life brings you great things and you'll never die. Pipe-dreams, like smoke-rings, leave you behind.

So near, yet so far - you're so close, but no cigar. Well, you can shed tears if you've fought hard - but it will hurn you, no matter how prepared you are. So very close, but no cigar. So close, so close.

Winston Churchill may have won the war, but you're fighting, still - draw breath for more...

So near, yet so far - you're so close, but no cigar. Well you can shed tears if you've fought hard, but it will hurn you, no matter how prepared you are. So very close, but no cigar. So close... so close... so close.

Down To Earth

They said it's not the drop that kills you, it's the sudden stop. Instead of selling out for thrills you just shut the shop. I bet that you forgot to feel - does it cost too much?

Come and parachute the blue skies. Does it hurt to use your own mind? I thought you were down-to-earth, but you're up-tight - how could you fall for me?

It's keeping well away from things that might cause you harm that's leading me to say it brings so sense of charm. Decisions in a daze appear so safe and warm.

Come and parachute the blue skies. Does it hurt to use your own mind? I thought you were down-to-earth, but you're up-tight - how could you fall for me?

Take a trip around the world, yeah. Build a bridge, then watch it burn. Get to grips with what you've heard - don't you ever learn?

Feel The Sun

Blackbird sings, kids on swings, morning brings a new day. Holding hands, nature's plans, distant sounds of railways.

Feel the sun shining on so happiness can follow, 'cause lonliness and sorrow can leave you lost in shadow. I hope your eyes burn bright before they turn hollow... so hollow.

Golden leaves, apple trees, you and me together. Wasting time tasting wine - we can find the answers.

Take your time to find your love. Shine a light around your heart.

Goodbye

Lover, dry your eyes - there's no need to cry. We have lived our lives, kiss goodbye tonight. Oooh...

I'll be by your side 'till the end of time.

Though I love you so, I've got to let you go. Without you at home I'll be so alone. Oooh... Kiss goodbye tonight.

Good Night

Go to sleep pretty girl, close your eyes and forget this world. Sweet dreams, swing low - I'll be there when you wake tomorrow.

Don't you know it's time to say goodnight? See the stars that shine, so far, so bright?

Lay to bed little boy, may your slumbers be filled with joy. God bless, sleep tight - we'll be here 'till it turns to daylight.

Think of all the things you did today. Given time you'll bring them back again...

You are young, I have grown - the day is done and the story's told. When you learn, you will know - what, tomorrow, your yesterdays'll hold.

Happy New Year

Heavy World

Twelve months have gone so soon - feel it rush by. Remember what's said to you since the last time? Christmas is over now, box it away. Cheers to the future, let's drink 'till it's day.

Everyone near to us, happy New Year. Here's to those dear to us - wish you were here... Everyone near to us, happy New Year. Here's to those dear to us - sing 'till they hear.

And to you, and to you and to you. Happy New Year, happy New Year.

Auld Lang Syne's sung, my dears - January waits. Your resolution's here, sober again. Happy New Year, happy New Year.
It's a heavy world, she's a heavenly girl - but at every turn she's getting heavy.

Feeling heavy, it's getting heavy - she's so heavy, yeah yeah yeah yeah... it's a heavy world.

It's a heavy world... She's a heavenly girl... Woah...

Hi-Phi

Hold

Circles, geometry, spirals - Fibonacci. Golden ratio: this is audio... Numbers, nature's laws - fractions, algebra hold. Chaos, entropy - science and symphony.

Hi-Phi - it's a frequency we've found! Hi-Phi - supersonic sound. Hi-Phi - it'll bring your senses round: too high for the human ear to make out.

Woven in tapertry, painted by da Vinci. Buildings and architects. Listen - gets in your head. Sea shells, ocean floors. Blood runs, waves on the shore. Feel it rush around - hear it - it's crashing down.

Hi-Phi - it's a frequency we've found! Hi-Phi - supersonic sound. Hi-Phi - it'll bring your senses round: so high that the human is in doubt.

I Love You

Walking down the street today under cloudy skies - given half a chance I'd say what's been on my mind. Did you ever stop to think when things went wrong? Now they're living on the brink - look at what you've done.

Why can't you seen them now? Invisible people in a cardboard town. While the keel runs aground they're stuck in the hold and the ship is going down.

Driving a Mercedes Benz in your suit and tie, do you know the censequence of what you help to hide? Or do you have another drink and then head back home? And are you conscious of the things a part of which you've become?
In between the reasons you didn't know you had the answers. You couldn't tell from the appearance it's good enough for you - I shouldn't have to prove it to you.

Underneath the whispers building up your bits and pieces. Nothing seems to want to save us that couldn't be refused or guarantees the truth you're using. You have to work it out, there's no doubt:

You don't know how badly I want you. I sit here alone so sadly - think of you. Deeply, truly, madly - I love you.

Out of space and favour, pulling all your funny face. It's just as well you've seen the papers; it's gonna make the news - it's give and take but who's the loser? It's what you never had - understand:

If Only

Nobody's looking out for what I'm searching for, and nobody seems to see. No-one's been listening in to what I'm hearing 'cause there's nobody got the key. Oooh, yeah, it's all well and good. Oooh, but if only they could.

Everyone's out of touch with their emotions - thought that they must have lost their feel. And people keep doing things they've been instructed 'cause they just don't know what is real.

Oooh, yeah, it's all well and good. Oooh, but if only they could - the world'd fill with peace and love and music will be playing on, to keep us strong.

I'm Going To Make It Through

Ladybird

It's time for you to let go - but you don't know you can. In the end you didn't mean to, but it's a means to an end. Didn't you know the reason is believing in the things you did - and I love you.

While you had the know-how you could show how you tried. But if you'd like to go the distance, you can make a difference tonight. Didn't you know the reason is believing in the things you did and I'm gonna make it through - yeah, I know. Find what you're here to do, and where to show.

Never to know, never to know - you'll never know. Get up and go, get up and go, we're heading home. Oooh... I'm gonna make it through - yeah, I know (I know, I know). Find what you're here to do, and where to show.
Ladybird, fly away! Where are all your children that you thought were safe to play? Though you leave them all alone, you can reach them on the phone.

Ladybird, fly away! Did you ever think of what they'd do with you away? Found some matches - oh, no! Fire is burning up your home.

I hope you hurry those wings today. I know the worry just brings you pain.

Fireflies pass you by... little glowing embers blow away and slowly die. Oooh...

Ladybird, fly away! Carying the weight of all their ashes to the grave. Now your house is stone-cold can you hear the chimneys moan, 'Ladybird fly away!'

Lean Out

It's time to make the change: get into the place you're supposed to be. Each time you break the chain it's better to create how you choose to see. Close your eyes to freeze the frame, drifting in the plane of the picture you've taken.

Try to lean out without falling, talking aloud, tumbling down.

Reach high to shape the game - settle for a chase or you lose the field. Pitch wide to stake your claim if trouble's tied the lace on your shoes for real. A reasoned mind is clear of blame if living's in the way of the whole situation.

Try to lean out without falling, talking aloud, tumbling down. Oh, oh, oh... Oooh...

Light A Candle

All you children, gather 'round now one more year will be over. Let's make it a good one to count - next birthday things could be different. In the blink of an eye, on some future day, you'll find the rest of your life is slipping away.

I'll light a candle for you - may all your wishes come true. I know what it's like to have dreams, don't you let them leave you.

Looking back on days back when my life was ever so simple - knowing now what I didn't then I might have pushed things a little. 'Cause there's only one chance to make the most of today, so give it all that you've got and don't be afraid. I'll light a candle for you...

If you live to ninety-nine,you'll see your grand-children growing, but if you leave them behind will there still be some way of knowing of the songs that you've sung and the love that you gave? So tell me, what have you done 'cause it's not too late!

I'll light a candle for you - they'll keep your memory true. Who knows what you could have been, or where you might have got to. I'll light a candle for you...

Looking Both Ways

With every mile, the engine's turning - each revolution, fuel is burning. Counting down the freeway junctions - don't want to take the exit lane.

In years of weather, the fender's rusting. Hear vibrations - her rhythm's pumping. Looking out for the next gas-station; oh, mother, take me home again.

She's going alright and doing so great. Been reading the signs and I'm looking both ways.

Moving pictures - scenes are sliding. Time and motion, film is finding. Going out on a live transmission: just keen it rolling all the way.

She's going alright and doing so great. Been reading the signs, feeling okay. The sun's gonna shine, it's a bright, new day. I know it's gonna be fine, 'cause I'm looking both ways.

Spinning the wheel... turn on your heels... go with a feeling. Winding the clock back to the start - you've got to keep on dreaming.

She's going alright and doing so great. Been reading the signs, feeling okay. The sun's gonna shine, it's a bright, new day and there's a clear, blue sky and I'm looking both ways.

Lost In Love

Two of us will fall down, deep - it's blue, you close your eyes. You were lost in love, but now you're free - too soon to say goodbye.

The pressures are sending nitrogen high - it feels like you're floating inside. Think with the weight of your mind, drifting away on the tide.

Sinking in oceans of aquamarine, dissolving within shades of green. Thirty-four fathoms beneath, you've never felt quite so at ease.

Never returning, nobody knows; you're seeing thing's no-one's been shown. Look for the secrets below... being where people don't go.

Two of us will fall down, deep - it's blue, you close your eyes. You were lost in love, but now you're free - too soon to say goodbye. Lost in love.

Love We Gain

Never Going To Let You Go

'Become yourself' is what you said - so I'm becoming someone else: I'm changing from the person I'm not. The gates have opened up for you - you've opened up my eyes for me: The Voice in my soul is loud and clear.

We cry to relieve us of the pain. Hide the reminders of the days spent. We try to believe the love we gain has made us wiser, inside, to fiil the space left (those wasted days...) in this place.

I had no words, I never spoke, 'cause I've been living in the shadows; you've given me courage and hope. You've justified your life to me; I hope heaven brings you peace - the love that you gave the world is here.
Weeh-oooh oooh-aaah-oooh-aaah-oooh.

Inside, when you can feel it - sometimes you just believe it. I'm never gonna let you go.

And if you ever let me down you know I'll always come around.

You don't know how much I love you.

I'm never gonna let you go.

Numbers

Landscapes of numbers replicate logically, getting so magically high. Handshakes above us calculate clinically. Nothing's dishonesty - it must be...

A whole world made of numbers. You salt yours away 'till it doubles: a cold word they say to numb us -
In numbers.

Picturing someone: millions will multiply - living his luxury life. Distancing no-one, killing for compromise - everything simplifies to realise...

A whole world made of numbers. You salt yours away 'till it doubles: a cold word they say to numb us -
In numbers.

One Day At A Time

One day there was a little boy - left home but he was unemployed. It seems like only yesterday, but not his life will ebb away: because he takes one day at a time.

There will be one day coming soon: his loved ones gathered in a room; so weak and helpless, lying there - they'll want to show him that they care. 'Till then he'll take one day at a time.

If you had your time once again, would you be a much better man when you could take one day at a time? Yes, you could take one day at a time.

If you had your time once again, would you be a much better man, or would you take one day at a time? Could you still take one day at a time?

Over And Out

Make you own way, push down. You're keeping us under to drown - you're choking the sound of musketeers in sixteen years of peace. Take the runway, touchdown. You're clearly outnumbered by the crowd that's talking too loud for you to hear, the deal appears to be.

When it blows (over and out) time has taught the jury everyone should go. And it shows (don't hang about) lies have told the story everyone knows.

Take the one-way, washed-out; I feel like I'm lumbered for now. I'm leaving this town to shelter here, so leave me here to bleed. Awake the wrong way - sundown. You're deeply in slumber in the clouds that don't seem about to disappear - I need to feel the breeze.

Break for Sunday - clutch down. You seem to be bumpered by the proud and confident shout of engineers - the wheels are nearly free.

Sink Or Swim

Robinson can't cope - message on a note. Bottle's half-afloat; he's all at sea.

Yellow in the sun, his ship's wrecked and gone. Untill help will come Friday is here.

Are you going to sink or swim? Don't you know it's the drink you're in? Is it going to soak you to the skin, or is it hanging you out to dry? It's crystal-clear in your blood-shot eyes.

Oceans far and wide; driftwood on the tide. He's marooned, inside, washed-up with fear.

Are you going to sink or swim? Don't you know it's the drink you're in? Is it going to soak you to the skin, or is it hanging you out to dry? It's crystal-clear in your blood-shot eyes.

Flotsam in his hand; little grains of sand - doesn't understand how he got here...

Are you going to sink or swim? Don't you know it's the drink you're in? Is it going to soak you to the skin, or is it hanging you out to dry? It's crystal-clear in your blood-shot eyes.

Look at me, it's as plain-as-day - can't you see what your friends all say? You'll be sorry you've thrown it all away - your head is swimming, but you still drown, and you'll be waving as you go down.

Are you going to sink or swim? Are you going to sink or swim? Are you going to sink or swim? It's crystal-clear in your blood-shot eyes.

What You Leave

Work with your hand, shaping a stone for building a wall that never falls.

Finding a wife, you bring her back home. She brings you a son - watch him grow.

Yeah, you live and die by the deeds you've done because it takes your life - but what you leave lives on.

Teach him to learn and share what you know 'cause when it's his turn, you must go.

Yeah, you live and die by the deeds you've done because it takes your life - but what you leave lives on.

All of your mind is written in word for people to find who read the book.

Yeah, you live and die by the deeds you've done because it takes your life - but what you leave lives on.
Yeah what you leave lives on.
